Lanzones Season
The parish priest in our barrio of Pinagtongulan in Lipa has thought up another feast to get people flocking to someone's door for free food and booze (because only three people went to my grandmother's home after the 'feast' to pray and transfer the image of San Lorenzo Ruiz to the home of next year's host, so reallym forgive me for sounding jaded). Twas a good thing though that we had another something-something to feast on: lanzones.
Trees in my father's lands were all heavy with these sweet fruits (that get you peeing a lot after), ready to be harvested. In the feast held at my grandma's home, we had two kaings for the guests to enjoy.
And considering the global warming and wacky weather, it's a blessing to be enjoying this bounty really.
So I really don't have any idea how much a kilo of these cost (my cousin says, it's now around P100/kilo) because we've almost always had them for free. That's one of the really great things about having a province :)

Lanzones is one of my favorite fruits. They may just be small, but once you taste them, it will give you a large amount of satisfaction. We actually have lanzones trees at home and I remember picking them up on the ground during harvest season.
