I was in the bank last week to make a deposit. While waiting for my turn, I grab a newspaper and while browsing the pages, something caught my attention-

A resolution supporting Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, president of Republic of the Philippines and thanking president for extending numerous projects and programs to Batanguenos and the Province of Batangas

Found it at Philippine Star, page 17, April 4, 2008 issue. It's not a full page ads but just the same, it's big and it isn't cheap. There is a great chance that the same resolution was also placed in other major dailies. The resolution requires that a copy be provided to the office of the president and be published in major newspapers. Sipsip!

Is it required to publish in major broadsheets every board resolutions passed by the Provincial Government? If it is, I can't understand why is it necessary.

At times that the country is facing rice crisis and that the cost of basic commodities are rising, government funds I think, have better use than to please a President, who is haunted by corruption issues left and right.
